A bright modern bathroom with a toilet, vanity and glass shower

A smart upgrade doesn't have to mean ripping out the whole bathroom.

A smart bidet seat gives you the core smart-toilet experience — warm-water washing, a heated seat, and warm-air drying — for roughly one-tenth of the cost, installed on the toilet you already own in about 20 minutes. A full smart toilet only wins when you're doing a complete bathroom remodel.

Step 01

Know what you're actually buying

Search "smart toilet" and two very different products get lumped together. They deliver the same daily experience, but they're worlds apart in what you take home — and what you give up to get it.

How a bidet seat works: a small T-valve diverts clean water from your toilet's existing supply line to the seat's spray nozzle. Electric models heat that water on demand and power extras like the heated seat and warm-air dryer. Nothing about your toilet's plumbing changes.

Smart toilet

The whole fixture

Bowl, tank, seat, and electronics in one integrated unit. Upgrading means removing your entire toilet — and paying a plumber to set a new one.

Bidet seat

Just the seat

The same wash, heat, and dry technology, built into a seat that bolts onto the toilet you already own. Your toilet stays exactly where it is.

Step 02

Compare the real cost

The sticker price is only half the story. A smart toilet usually needs professional installation on top — and that bill often rivals the price of the fixture itself.

Smart bidet seatFull smart toilet
Unit price$150–$400$1,000–$5,000+
Installation$0 — DIY in 15–30 min$300–$800+ plumber & electrician
Removes your current toiletNoYes — plus disposal
Typical total$150–$400$1,300–$5,800+

And the savings don't stop on day one: most households sharply cut toilet paper use after switching, so the seat keeps paying you back every month.

Step 03

Compare installation day

Bidet seat — about 20 minutes, on your own. Remove the old seat, mount the bracket, connect the T-valve to your existing water line, and plug in (electric models). Standard household tools; most people finish in 15–30 minutes.

Smart toilet — half a day, usually with a pro. Shut off and drain the water, remove the old toilet, inspect or repair the flange, set and level the new unit with a fresh wax ring, then reconnect water and a dedicated power source. Most homeowners call a plumber.

Step 04

Compare the features you actually feel

The daily experience — warm water, a warm seat, hands-free drying — is the same on both. A few practical points only a seat can offer.

Step 05

Decide in one minute

Bidet seat wins if
  • You rent, or might move in the next few years
  • You want the upgrade this weekend, not next remodel
  • You'd rather spend about $200 than $3,000
  • Your current toilet works fine
Smart toilet wins if
  • You're already doing a full bathroom remodel
  • You want a seamless, one-piece designer look
  • The budget for fixture + plumbing work is planned

Common questions

Will a bidet seat fit my toilet?

Adorinse seats fit most standard round and elongated toilets. Each model page lists bowl-shape compatibility and mounting dimensions — check them before ordering, or email contact@adorinse.com with a photo of your toilet.

Do I need an electrician?

No. Purea is non-electric and needs no power at all. Electric models plug into a standard grounded outlet (110–120V / 60Hz) with a built-in GFCI protection plug — the same outlet a hair dryer uses.

What if I move? Can I take it with me?

Yes — that's a key advantage over a smart toilet. Unbolt the seat, reinstall the original one, and pack yours. Reinstalling at the new place takes another 15–30 minutes.

What if it doesn't work out?

You have a 30-day return window. Unused, uninstalled seats in original packaging can be returned for a refund — see our Returns & Refunds Policy for details.
